How Sweating Too Much Or Too Little Can Cause Difficulties

While it may seem unsightly at times, perspiration plays an important role in helping to maintain the good health and efficient functioning of our bodies.

The major role of perspiration is to maintain a steady body temperature. We use perspiration as a mechanism to keep this temperature stable.

We developed this process from our cave man days when we were very active and wore little clothing. The sweat that was on our skin cooled us down as we moved through the air in search of our prey.

Because we are now fully clothed the majority of the time, this moisture on our skins is less easily able to evaporate.

We now have the problem where tis moisture builds up in our armpits or other areas and can result in bad odor.

Like most things, we are all different in the amount we perspire and what triggers it to start.

Some of us sweat little, even when exercising, while others will only have to look at a treadmill and sweat beads will begin to form

While excess sweating can cause some shame and embarrassment, it is not considered to be a problem that will in any way endanger your life.

There may also be some levels of skin irritation as a result of constant moisture in areas like the armpits or groin.

If the sweating is a symptom of something more serious than there could be a problem, but sweating heavily can only really cause problems to your health if you don’t replace the fluids.

On the other hand, if you don’t sweat enough you are at risk of overheating which can cause far more damage to your body than sweating too much.

There are generally three types of causes related to an inhibition of sweating – either the sweat glands are malfunctioning, there is some skin condition causing the problem or medication is causing this problem as a side effect.

So if you are having problems related to perspiration – whether you are worried you are sweating too much or too little – it is a good idea to get the opinion of a medical professional.

This will be the best way for you to get the proper diagnosis and treatment.
